Hi, I'm Dulce. Dulce the Dog.

My full name is Dulce de la Maison which means House Dessert or Sweet of the House in Spanish and French. Mom likes languages, she's eclectic, a writer and takes grande poetic license as is apparent in my name.

I come from great pedigree, which who cares, except it may be part of the reason I'm such a great creature. My grandfather is a champion Briard. My breeder Kathy cares about temperament, smarts (for herding) and obedience for a well disciplined dog. 

I'm a French Briard, a herding dog. In France we are police dogs, 'cuz we are so smart. If you've seen the film Tell No One, you've seen a relative of mine. Pretty handsome one too. In WWII we were almost wiped out - we were messenger dogs on the front line 'cuz we're so smart. 

I am almost 10 years old. I have hair not fur which means I have a great shaggy mane but matt up. I do shed, but it's tumbleweeds on the floor not hair on your furniture. I weigh 80 pounds, am very agile. Tall not big. I eat a couple times a day, usually at night when mom's sleeping. Mom fed me raw food for 7 years. I LOVE a whole chicken! Now she cooks my food - fresh lamb, chicken or beef with broccoli , green beans, carrots, yams, sometimes rice. I love a little sprinkled cheese on top. She mixes it up so I get variety and I usually don't eat until she's finished her meal because she always gives me a little off her plate. I like to wait for that, then I eat! Yu-um, delish!

I hear all the time "that's not a dog, that's a person in a dog suit". Well I am pretty magical.

One woman said, you know that dog can fly. I think it's my ears.

Mom and I hang out, go everywhere together. She talks to me and I have a huge vocabulary. I'm really independent and take charge -- hey, I'm guarding the flock, I got look out for mom, our family and her friends.

I'm very playful, you might think I'm a puppy they way I can get really excited and run around, but once I've checked a place out I will lay down and just relax, take a nap.
